A board end connector is an electrical connector whose distinguishing feature is that it has one end fixed to a circuit board. The working principle is as follows:
1. Mechanical part: The connector has a terminal and a plug or socket, which is inserted into the terminal fixed on the board to make an electrical connection. After insertion, the pressure will mould the wire and terminal contact area to achieve a tight connection.
2. Electrical part: the electrical part of the connector includes the contact, insulator and shell. The contact is the core part of the connector, it is through the contact with the plug or socket to achieve electrical connection. Insulator used to isolate the contact and shell, to prevent electrical short circuit. The shell is used to protect the electrical parts inside the connector and provide mechanical support.
3. Signal Transmission: End-of-board connectors can transmit a variety of signals, including digital, analogue and high-speed signals. The quality and speed of signal transmission depends on the electrical performance and design of the connector.
4. Connector fixing: There are various ways to fix the connector on the board, including soldering, crimping and screw fixing. When selecting the connector, the appropriate fixing method should be selected according to the structure of the board and the size of the connector.
5. Connector selection: the selection of board-side connectors should be based on the electrical properties of the circuit board, the type of signal, the size of the connector and fixing method and other factors for comprehensive consideration. For example, in products requiring high mechanical strength, THT connectors may be more suitable.
